She Can Run, But Will It Save Her?

Casey Cox is running from the truth.

Dylan Roberts is trying to find it.

The If I Run series by the bestselling author, Terri Blackstock, is an amazing romantic thriller that will draw you into the story with just the first page. When Casey discovers that her friend, Brent, is killed, she knows it’s not safe to stick around.

So, fighting off hopelessness, Casey runs away from the crime and from accusations. Everyone seems convinced that Casey murdered Brent. Everyone except for Dylan, that is. Soon after Brent’s parents, the Paces, hire Dylan to track down Casey and work alongside the police, Dylan realizes that something is off with Brent’s murder and he begins to wonder if Casey could be innocent.

Still, in order to confirm his suspicions, Dylan must find Casey, which proves harder than he had expected. Casey is forever a step ahead of him and with a fake ID and new makeover, it seems like she just disappeared. But Dylan, fighting the grief of losing his friend, Brent, and dealing with a recurring case of PTSD, refuses to give up.

So does Casey.

Every time Dylan and the police get closer to snapping the handcuffs on her wrists, she runs farther and farther until finally, hiding will no longer protect her. She must confront her father’s and Brent’s murderers and figure out how to avoid jail…or death because once her pursuers find out she knows the truth, they know she has to go as well.

The pace of this series is perfect, and I think most mystery/suspense readers will really enjoy this book. While there is no language in any of the three books in the series, there are a few things that set the appropriate age range for this book’s readers.

For instance, there are a few mentions of pornography in book one, (Casey is in a library and discovers a man using one of the library’s computers to view this material. She unplugs the man’s computer and overall nothing is described.) In book two, a child is being sexually abused and Casey must prove that one man is innocent of hurting her, while another is guilty.

Since this series is thrilling, there are several violent parts such as a man being murdered with a shovel, and several times, Casey reminisces about discovering her dad hanging and of course, Brent’s murder. Keeping all this in mind, I would recommend this book to teenagers/adults who enjoy suspenseful books that will teach a lesson and keep you entertained.
