How did your first week in March go?
Here it was rainy and still a bit chilly, although the weather stayed nice a few days, so we could get our garden ready for our spring plants. Of course, the daffodils are already blooming in the flowerbeds, which is a sure sign Spring is right around the corner.
Whether you despise your Spring allergies or love the idea of Summer right around the corner, Spring can bring mixed feelings. Another thing it brings, though, for certain, is new life. Young sprouting green plants and pretty blossoming cherry trees are just two examples of some Spring growth in nature.
But how about you?
Do you plan on growing this Spring?
Maybe there’s a habit you’d like to adopt or a skill you’d like to perfect. Perhaps you’d like to work more on your writing or even make it a point to read and study for school, college, or even just for fun.
Or maybe you’d just prefer to be an Evergreen, steady all year round. That’s fine too! We all learn at different speeds and as long as we’re looking for improvement in the long run, the way we get there shouldn’t matter!
One way I’m planning to ‘grow’ this Spring is by working on my people skills! And no, I don’t mean the kind of skills an extrovert is born naturally with. In fact, I’m not talking about real people at all.
Nope, my ‘people skills’ this season are going to focus on making sure my characters feel real. Have you ever read a good book, that had you imagining long after you finished it, what the characters would do next?
That’s my goal, and if you’re interested in gaining some ‘people skills’ too, be on a lookout for some posts this week about character growth, and how we can use our life experiences in our writing. And of course, since our theme this week is Spring Flowers…and Weeds, there will also be posts on different types of flowers, and even ways we are like them! (Growing is definitely one of those ways!)
Have a great week!
